As. in tho Cup'race, Mystification'was nnahlo tii kcep with the. field. Clanchattan .was in :thc ruck till the, straight ,was reached, but lie-finished-well, close behind Gold Crest.-

Cbantress won the„Fitzherberfc Handicap from end to end. She came into the straight with; a lead of nearly two lengths, but .Separator finished well, and mado matters exciting. Dinbolo, who ran rather wide, was not far behind tho pair, but Beringaria, who was made favourite, never looked to have a chance. All - Red -was -not started in tho Metropolitan Handicap. Full Rate was a slightly better favourite, than Petrovna and Moil Amie, while Dp Witte, Moriarty, and Tupoiio wero all well backed. Aboriginal was badly left, and only reached the tail of tho field. Moriarty began even' better than he did' on Saturday, but he faded away in the straight, and finished just behind tlio placed horses. Do Witte, who was making his first appearance at tho meeting, was in the ruck till well into tho straight. Ho put in a verv fast run about a furlong from the post, aiid had no difficulty in withstanding tho challenge of Ballarat. The latter was not quite.up to the barrier when tho tapes were' released, but her colours could he distinguished among tho first half-dozen when heads wore turned for home, and she galloped gamely in the straight. Full Rate looked to bo a winner as tho field-camo round the bend,, and it is difficult to satisfactorily account for his poor performance.. Gawaiu, Petrovna, and Tupono never flattered their'backers. Moil Amie was well up in the final furlong, but, .in company with.several others, sho did not fare too weil at' tho start.- >

Taitolio and Truganini wero scratched for the J'cncarrow Hack Handicap. Tho unlucky Uongipapa again .filled second placo. North Head,, tho winner, was generally reckoned to have been well treated in last Saturday's handicaps. lu yesterday's . raco ho was dropped 31l>. for miming unplaced. Yosanii was put up 21b. and Advantage 31b. for similar performances. Suttee wns'put up 41b. for exposing, her form in the Tongariro Handicap. and Rnngipnpa was- well looked alter for ruuuiug athird.
