Tho flames crept dowji.Tfrom tho Alaungaterore Valley, along tho lower foothills, to the flats at Belvedere.' Abovo Andorson's line a large quantity'of dead timber is burning, and it would be no difficult matter for tho firo to reach . Carterton's outskirts, should the wind chango.
