DROWNED IN A BATH.

Yesterday afternoon a ten-months-old child named Jeanne Ruth Gallagher, daughter of -Air. Christopher Gallagher, of Coroinandel Street, met its death under painful circumstances. At about four o'clock it was left playing on tho kitchen floor by' Mrs. Gallagher, who went into another room for a few min.utes. When she returned tho child was missing, and she, found it in tho bathroom lying on its back in a hath containing nine inches of water. Mrs. Gallagher took the child out and called to somo of the. neighbours for help. Artificial respiration was tried, but unsuccessfully, and a doctor was at once sent for. Dr. Faulke, who ar-rived-at .5.30; p.m., also endeavoured to induce respiration, but without success. Mr; Simpson, District Coroner, will hold an inquest this morning.
