Mr. Winston Chifrchill, Under-Secretary for tho Colonies, who has been on a tour of the Mediterranean and East, African Crown Doloiiies and possessions, was entertained, at B'banquot by tho National Liberal Club. , In tho course of a speech, referring to his travels, Mr. Churchill said ho was astonished at-tho beauty, fertility, and resources of ..tho jouritries ho had visited., < Ho did not dispute the right of the Transvaal and of' Australia to mako what arrangements, they thought necessary with respect to Asiatic immigration; It- was entirely within the authority. deliberately conceded to ■ihem by tho House 'of Commons; and ho hoped that tho nation and Parliament would honestly 'try to grasp the colonists' point of riew and'to understand their difficulties. Mr. Churchill suggested thai the equatorial provinces -of Africa' might supply a compensating. field for the colonising enterprise of British Ipdians. ' ' . Orientals, 1 , and least , suited to our habits, might be specially reserved for Oriental immigration.", The paper, also .stated that the curious, are expecting from .Mr. Churchill, when Parliament meets, a statement of policy.
