JAPANESE EMIGRATION.
Tohio, December 4. Tlio municipality of Tokio gayo a banquet yesterday evening in honour of Mr. Lemieux, Canadian Minister of Labour. Among thoso present were Sir Claudo Macdonald, tho British Ambassador, and Count Hayashi. In tho courso of a speech, Mr. Leiiiieux expressed his lirm belief that all. difficulties would bo amicably settled. it is understood that tlio Canadian Minister has been informed positively that while Japan will not consent to any modification of hor treaty with Canada or enter into any new agreement, she will in future so control emigration that tliero will bo no further cause of complaint. A conlereiiee of tho various companies engaged in the emigrant business has resulted in a decision to consolidate into oho largo company. Count liayashi, Minister for .Foreign Affairs, addressed tho conference, and told it that steps would have to bo taken to regulate emigration.
