Wo learn that Robert Rush, the survivor of the boating accident at Waverloy on Sunday, was rescued under circumstances reflecting the greatest credit on the courage of his rescuer, who -is a young man named Robert Proctor, a resident of the Peninsular and an employee of the Otago -Harbour Hoard. Proctor, adds the. "Otago Daily Times,'.' was riding along the Hay'road on ' n bicycle, and heard cries. Seeing a flatbottomed punt moored.at some distance from the shore, he found the rowlocks and i -13, and with them, swam.out to the punt, hi this craft, which was .io unseaworthy that it had to be bailed" by'another man who joiiuil him, he made his way to where Rush was clinging to the mast head, and reached him ' ■ just in time, as lie was completely exhausted and could have held on onlv a few minutes' longer. Proctor- was not called at the inquest, for the-- probable reason thut Rush ' was too much exhausted to notice Die manner of his rescue, and so did not tell the polico. We learn, further, that this i.v this second occasion 011 which Proctor has snvod life under similar circwnstancas.
