The littlo one was brought to Stratford Hospital, where she expired this morning. , The child was a favourite with her father, and followed him at work; but how she got into the machine is unaccountable. Moon, who was taken to the hospital on Wednesday suffering from tho effects of severe burns recoivo'J whilst attempting with many others to subdue tho grass fires on the Cashmere Hills, died this morning at about half-past one at tho hos-\ pital. Air. Moon spent a fairly quiet night on Wednesday, and during yesterday hopes were entertained of his ultimata recovery. Theso were not destined to bo realised, a»4 Mr. Moon succumbed to tho shock to his system, consequent on tho severe burns he sustained. An inquest was held this evening, when a vcrdict was returned that deatli was caused by shock duo to severe burns sustained by the deceased. A- Wallace Street tramcar narrowly:' escaped being derailed in Hopper Street last night. When the 8.28 ear from the terminus got into Hopper Street the cowcatcher lifted a heavy object from tho lino,, which gavo tho car a jolt, and induced tho motorman to quickly apply the brakes. On the cowcatcher was found a picco of iron machinery weighing 201b. It is believed to havo been placed on tho lino*by boys. A littlo wliilo ago tho points in Hopper Street were opened by a piece of wood, and on that occasion a car was derailed. A car official, accustomed to tho -Wallace 1 Street run, declared to a Dominion representative that Hopper Street, though only a few yards long, is " a bad place.";
