; ' (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dune&'in, January 17. Tho Primitive Methodist Conference has concluded' its sittings. A suggestion that district synod be substituted for district - meeting in reference t-o the annual meetings of each district in'the Dominion was adopted. . It was resolved that it bo a. recommendation to the circuits to consider a request of tho Methodist Preachers' Association for one colkction during, the year towards the general fund of tho Association. 'It was decided, to forward a letter of thanks to a gentleman who had presented tho Church with a house and land for church purposes at Porirua. On tho motion of the Rev. J. Cocker, it was resolved that for purposes of representation at tho Conference a home missionary shall have tlic same status as a minister. The temperance _ council wrote urging the Conference to join in combination with the council in its efforts to influence tho nolicenso polls at the end of the year, and asked that wherever possible an arrangement he made for exchange of pulpits, and that ministers bo set. free for temperance wort: at the time of the no-license polls. It was resolved that the request be complied with as far as possible. .It- was also resolved on the motion of Mr. Bellringer—"That the Conference expresses its fullest sympathy with every effort made to destroy tho liquor traffic in the Dominion, and urges its people to pray and work for the complete removal of this obstacle to.the spread of tho Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ." Tho (late of the next Conference was fixed for January 7 IUO9. The Conforenco rose shortly after midnight, having concluded all business.
