Tliey stated 'that no further subdivision'was contemplated.- Tlie present unrecognised, .right of way was 15ft. wide, and'-had. existed for some years.. ■The' City Engineer recommended that. tho request 'bo- acccaed to, provided that no. further sub-division takes place ; that, no more houses bp, built there without the; ccmsont |of tho Council; that the right of way bb maintinned in good ; order and condition for ; all time, and, that a gate bo placed at tho entrance and looked at night. Councillor Godber moved that the request be granted, on the conditions named by tho Engineer, and also that tho owners pay for tho liglit. Councillor Hindmarsh moved to_ adjourn tho matter, and obtain a legal opinion. The-Mayor was in favour of granting tho application. It would racroly bo giving"legal sanction'to what had existed for 30 years. He saw no necessity for the gate, which he thought would be'a source of dangor. The application was made with a view to facilitate tho transfer v of some property. After 'a little more discussion it was resolved to grant the application, provided that iio further sub-division bo made; that no additional houses bo orcctcd without tho Council's consent; that tho right of way bo maintained in good order and condition for all time, and that the lighting be paid forby the owners. TENDERS. The Mayor stated that there was a very slight difference between the |wo tenders for eleOtrfc Watt meters, and tlicro were advantages in favour of tho higher ono. Ho moved that, powor bo given to.tho Mayor and tho Engjnecr' to accept' the tender of greatest advantage. This was carried. The Mayor moved' that tho lowest tender in order for extensions to the lighting station bo accepted. The resolution was carried, Councillor Carmichael dissenting.
