It is bounded on the west aiid south-west by the Whareama River, on tho east by the Pacific Ocean, and on the northward generally by the Castlepoint run; The land varies from first to third-class. The formation consists of alluvial flats,- and the hills generally are of papa and sandstone. The highest points of the central range are from 800 to 1200' feet, above sea level.
