Darragh has decided to have , erected tho; additional five shops for which tenders wero • called simultaneously with those-now being erected by Sir. -W.' Wilkinson in Fergussou Street. Tho addition will go to make,a really ifino : block .of shops and offices, with, a frontage, of 132 feet to Fergussou Street .and 66 feet : to MacArthur Street. Mr. Wilkinson, who has the contract,for the building.now in course of erection, has also been, given, thp Work of making the addition. The total cost is somewhere about £4000. The. architect for., tho work is Mr. A. James, of • ■ , Mr. T. H. James; .prchiteet to the Wanganui Education Board, paid a visit to Feilding on Tuesday and inspected the technical school building. Mr. W. Wilkinson, tho contraetor for the building, , says it I will bo all ready for occupation in a month's time. At the meeting of the Horowhenua County Council on Monday, Messrs. A. and J. Dean waited on the Council, asking that a road to their property be formed. Tho engineer stated; that the road would cost £300, and Councillor l'rouso considered that as Messrs;' Dean were tenants of the Government, ttiey should apply there for • the road, and not further saddle tho ratepayers witli tho expense of a road which would be a direct advantage to the Government. It was decided that, a deputation he formed to'wait on the Government and ask for a special loan to make this road. ' ' Wednesday is the day that has been fixed upon by tho County Council for tho statutory half-holiday under the Shops and Offices Act.
