There was'better competition-, among the export buyers, and prices forvthe 'best lots were rather firmer, while ■ backward lots thought lower figures. Tegs made 15s. 9d. to 17g. Gd.; ordinary freezers, 13s. to '15s. Gd.; lighter, lis. to 12s. Gd.; backward conditioned, 75.. Gd.,. to lis. There was :a moderate yarding of fat sheep, mostly, backward conditioned . lots. Anything prime sold well ,up to lato rates, but aged ewes wero rather cheaper. There was little business done, for export.' The range of prices was: Trim? wethers, 16s. Gd. to 195.; lighter, 13s. 9d. to 16s. ; • prime ewes, 14s. 6d. to 16s. 9d.;. medium,'l2s. to 145.; and aged light, 9s. to-lis." Gd. Thei entry of beef totalled 311 head, of which the bulk was cows. The sale was. a dragging one, cows being difficult to disposo of, and prices were rather easier for prime beef, and the declino in cows was greater. Sales were as. follow: Steers, JEG to .610 10s.; -heifers, .£5 to .£7, 55.; and -.corns, X-l ss. to -J67 2s. 6d., equal to 235. Gd. for prime and -lGs. for medium quality per 1001b. Veal calves sold at 4s. Gd. to 555. There was a medium' ontry of. store cattle, which met with a dragging sale. Yearlings sold up to 165.; 15 to 18-months, 255. to 305.; 2-year heifers, 455.; 3 and'3l-year steers, -Jt6; 3-year heifers, .£3 18s.; dry cows, X 3 15s. Dairy cows woro in ' poor demand at X.3 ss. to J2G 15s. There was rather n small ■ yarding of pigs, and pricos were better. .- Choppers wero sold up to ,£4; baconers, 455. to 575. (equnl to 4Jd. to 5d.); porkers, 355. to 425. (equal to 5Jd.); medium stores, 18s. to 275.; weaners, 12s. to 155.; and suckers,. up to 10s.
