A NEW COLONY.
A new departure, in the shape of a wandering co-operative colony, if as to be inaugurated by Mr. Upton Sinclair, the author of "The Jungle," on January 1. For ssvoral years, past Mr. Sinclair has been ftil-ardent advocato of the "simple life," and two years ago ho started a colony at Holicon Ilall, . Englowood, New Jersey; but it • was 'burnt-oat recently. "The now colony will bp Helicon Hall on tho hoof," said Mr. Sinclair in describing his new -venture.. "The colonists will live in waggons and tents. Tho will be vegetarians ana 'non-rontpayers, and will practise dress reform. By this method we shall solve the problem of existence without servants, and shall get as near to nature as possible. "The tour will last at least ten years. It will start in California, and will afterwards visit Europe. "In England wo shall, visit Mr. 0. Bernard Shaw, Mr. H. G. Wells, and tho Countess of Warwick, spending a week at Warwick Castle." ■ ■ « The touring colonists will include a number of the members of the Helicon Hall colony, with several now recruits. Throughout, the tour the colonists will preach tha gospel of the "simple life," and hope to make manv converts.
