SIR RICHARD POORE.
IMPERIAL UNITY. 'TZI/ECBAMI—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COI'TRIGIIT, London, January 10. The Austral Club banquetted Itcar-Admi-ral Sir Richard Pooro, who is to succeed Sir Wilmot. Fawkos as commander-in-chief on tho Australian squadron. Lord Jorsey presided, and those present included Mr. W. P. Reeves (New Zealand's High Commissioner), and tho Agents-Gen-eral. Sir Richard Poore said that, as a believer in conservative Imperial unity, he would bo glad of tho opportunity of studying on the spot the aspirations, work, and diflicultics of Australia and New Zealand. Sir Richard Poore subsequently volunteered the explanation that in using the word "conservative," ho intended to convey tho meaning of tho co-opcrativo Imperial unity.
