The vicar of Filey, tho Rev. A. N. Cooper who is known as the "Walking Parson," described at Leeds his walk from Filey to Pompeii. Ho started on April 8, a;ui accomplished the journey of ISOD miles there and back in six weeks. The funeral of Charles Ernest Squire, who shot Miss Cooke at Slough, and committed suicide, took place at "Slough Churchyard. There was no burial .service, and a wreath from his mother bore these words"Tliou Judge of Judges, by whom justice will be done, into Thy hands, 0, Father, we commend Thy son."
