THEATRE ROYAL. The excellent vaudeville menu tendered by Messrs. Fuller to their patrons . this week - continues, to meet with popular'appreciation. On -Friday evening the management will in'troduco several noiv features.' - WEST'S PICTURES. The fine series of kinomatographic films which tho management of West's Pictures havo been exhibiting this week were shown 1 for. tho last timo yesterday evening to an appreciative audience. This evening an entirely new series will bo shown. ' '. THE CLARA BUTT CONCERTS. Madame Clara Butt and Mr. Konnerloy Rumford, after a most successful season in Australia, commence a brief season at the Town Hall on Monday, January 20, to be followed on January 22 with a second concert. The plans for tho reserved area open next Tuesday morning at tho Dresden Piano Company. Madamo Clara Butt's vocal triumphs aro attributed to surprising natural gifts, supplemented by artistic culturo of a ' high order. Mr. Rumford is described as a pure baritone, his methods aro said to bo master]}', and his platform manner free from the mannerisms' usually met with. Mr. 'Arthur Godfrey, nepliow of tlio great English band conductor, is fulfilling tho' important position of conductor. Mr. Carl Barre, tho violinist of tho party, is closcly related to ' Mr. W. H. Squire, tho eminent .'cellist and composer. It is a mattGv for congratulation that tho Town Hall, w\ v Ai its fine organ, has baen chosen' for tho use of theso famous 6ingers, as wo understand that a strong feature of Madamo Butt's programmes is tho organ obbligatos to her songs. MISSIONS TO SEAMEN. Tho Missions to Seamen's Instituto was crowded last night, when an cnjoyablo concert was arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Lcighton, of Lower Hutt. Tho following contributed to tho programme:—Miss Mason (pianoforte solo), Mrs. Lcighton (song), Dr, Purdy (recitation), Miss Simpson (fluto solo), Mrs. Hollis (song), Mrs. Lcighton and Mr. Wilson (duot), and Mr. Wilson (song). Every item was encored. Several choruses were sung. A conundrum competition was won by sailors from the Stormbird and Avon. Fourteen men signed tho pledgo as a result of tho temperanco address, by Mr. Mooro (missioner). A hearty voto of thanks was given to the performers, and light, .refreshments wero partaken of.
