ACTORS IN DISTRESS
_ Great depression prevails in theatrical circles' in Now York, according to the correspondent of the London "Tribune," owing to tho failure of many plays. Mr. Daniel. Frohman, president Of tho Actors' Fund Society, states that thousands of actors throughout tho United States are unemployed, many being in dire straits. Managers hold tho financial situation partly responsible for this state of affairs, but the main reasons locally lie in th'e multiplicity of theatres and tho lack of. good plays.
