Mr. Rudyard ; Kipling's terse prescription for curing the Asiatic ovil in Western Canada is "Pump 1 in emigrants from the Old Country, pump them in." Tho'; director of tho Salvation Army's emigration department, .Colonel Lamb, .interviewed in London towards the end ,of Octorber, on his return froifi Canada, stated emphatically that, tho prospects for British emi•grants were never brighter than now. He,had 'scon many of" the immigrants, and could, not' find 'one' who wished to return; There is no lack of' demand for labour, and tho general enthusiasm , for the future ,isc, very marked. 'After careful''inquiries, as,to .tlie prospects for 'the coming 'winter, he is . quite prepared to. hear of hundreds'of "unemployed" in Winnipeg, Toronto, and other, centres, with a simultaneous demand for workors, as many, havo made enough money in the summer to keep them till : spring, and are not anxious to", work through tho winter.- There, is certainly no lack of domand for the people who aro still going out in tho Salvation Army's parties. Colonol Lamb stated that tho Salvation Army is already providing for a greatly increased emigration next year, and has engaged the whole passengor accommodation of ten steamers. Tho first party to leave, in February, will be those . who intend to settle in British Columbia; and they will'be escorted across both land and sea by experienced officers.
