Kennedy'.- Tho-small concert; room- where tho last show- was-hold was ;.very -uncomfortably crowded so,that it,was impossible to sco tho exhibits; to advantago,.. and;, tho decorated tables could , not ,bo compared. Tho next show is to do held -in the' Town Hall itself, and so many oxhibits'havc been received,, not only from Wellington and'tho Hutt, but from distant towns, that it-is expected tli'o whole of tho floor spaco will be :covered with exhibit's and competitive entries. If is. hoped that a largo number of ladies will-enter for tablo decoration's' and other competitions, as. theso competitions add very greatly-to . tho interest of a show,, and have a distinct educativo value. , .' , '' Several of tho-shops-in; Cuba Street, are preparing for summer , sales, and women who go down that street these-days clutch their purses very tightly, as they pass, determined not to spend a penny till Thurs-day,-when, as they, believe, that, penny will bo worth at least twopence. _ .On Thursday tho man who always keeps his wife short of cash, and makes a fuss about her bills,, will begin to jeer at'.her as a bargain-hunter and mako resurrect musty jokes, about the greed of women. Sydney' papers announco tho engagement of Mr. Arthur Adams, of -tho " Bulletin *' staff, to Miss Paton. This Miss Paton is not the Sydney champion tennis player. A letter from London, dated November 28, states that Mrs. Chase-Morris, with her throe daughters, was leaving shortly for tho Continent. They had arrived some little time before by tho. Mongolia on a pleasure trip to-England, Ireland, Scotland, and tho Continont, and wero intending to make a stay in Colombo on their way nome to New Zealand. - . ■ . ■ .Yesterday afternoon' tho Rev. W.
