Hosking was' elected Treasurer of tho Club, which hasnow a Tory largo membership. ' -"v. The Programme Committee for tho aquatic carnival,' to be held -on 'Anniversary Day,, also mot, and decided to increaso tho prize in tho Wairarapa Championship event of 75yds.' to a £6 Gs. cup. Soveral prominent Wellington swimmors, and several'leading' polo teams have promised to visit tho sports, tho trophies for which aggregate nearly £50 in value. Sunstroko has , boon rather common among horses in Masterton this summor. Alroauy one animal, a rather valuable horso, has succumbed to a stroke, and two others aro under veterinary'-attention. Harvesting is now general. Tho effects of the drought are plainly discernible in tho height of tho sheaves, which are, in many cases, hoarly, reduced by half, below last yqar's standard. Tho supply of milk to the local factory is much below tho'return at this period last year, though tho test is-keeping up. ' .., The Opaki Rifle Club members aro practising hard for the Trentham and other rifle meetings to take place shortly.-
