A NEW DISEASE.
At Hammersmith, London, recently Mr. I Drew held an inquest on John William Fig- - gott, a youth of 16, a bricklayer, lately livv ing in Cayford Road, Shepherd's Bush. It ) was stated that the deceased had been pcrt fectly healthy until three weeks ago, when fc ho was told, at the West London Hospital, that ho was suffering from douhlo mumps, t Subsequently ho was found insensiblo in bc<l 7 and died shortly afterwards. Dr. Charles Johnson said that a post moro torn examination revealed the fact .that most t of tho internal organs and the whole of the o lymphatic system wore much enlarged; in t fact some of tho organs were morn than ii double the weight of those of a full-grown n man. The deceased was in a condition simile jar to that of tho young baronet whoso myso teiious death was the subject of an inquest i, at Chelsea recently. Death was due to is hemorrhage of tho tonsils, whilst the man ); was sniforing from status lympliaticus. il The coroner remarked that this was a tlisn enso which had only lately been discovered, 's and eminent medical men were making closo n inquiries into it. Of the livo or six cases in l, London with rcferencc to which inquests liad y been held, ho had held four. It was a subli jeot of great importance. 3- Tlio jury returned a verdict ill accordance with tho medical ovidcnco.
