Frank Veltheim, tho • murderer of Woolf Joel, extradited from Paris, was charged at the Guildhall with having demanded, with menaces, monoy from Solly Joel. , The prosecutor testified that he first saw the accused when in tho dock in Johannesburg, 1803, lie being then tried in connection with witness's brother's death. Witness produced at the Johannesburg trial seven blackmailing' letters, which wero now read. ' Tho handwriting was tho same as that of a letter received in June, 1907, demanding money. Tho letter was followed by a draft for £16,000, presented through Dr. Millar, of Antwerp. Witness, since the trial at Johanneßbuvg, had not seen prisoner till today.' Accused was: remanded for a week.
