Mrs. Stanhope Forbes, Robert Anning 8011, Fred. Hall, Crawhall, and Jamos Paterson, are artists of distinction/ and it is anticipated that- the others whom the selectors patroiiiscd7will furnish valuable additions to our locaL gallery. Wo hav6 already a picture by ..Frod Hall—a picture of a veterinary surgeon of the old school treating a little dog."' James Paterson belongs to tho Scotch school 7of artists, and Dr. Fyffc, of Wellington, who saw some , of his pictures in the.English Art Gallery, spoaks in voryhigh praise of his work. The solectors seom to have made a good capture over the Brangwyn picture of "Santa Maria della Salute," for it 'was lately marked at £500. 'Tho selectors in England were Miss Hodgkins, Mr. Norman Garstin. Mr. Morlcy Flotchcr,.aiul Mr. T. L. Devitt. Mr. Devitt was a solcctor of pictures recently for tho New- South. Wales Gallery in Sydney. Tho pictures will bo on exhibition in tho Wellington Art Gallery probably the week after next.
