In our local veterinarian, Mr. Owen, wo havo a man of high.qualifications, hut unfortunately, .'owing .to the widei area he Jias .to Cover, his services are in great demand, and iii some cases farmers have had to fall hack' s upon their own resources in the treatment of stock. A few years ago, when Mr. Burton,who is-.now- in the Government servico,,.was ; operating in this district under-an arrnnge- ' ment with the farmers through the Union; he was-so poorly supported, and had to travel such long distances that there.were times when his earnings-hardly paid for the petrol of his motor cycle., ' . .-.,-;
