It has in many boon, ,a romarkablo twelvo nibnths—a year so active locally in every phase of life that it has, many, passod like a 1 flash. Things, of very great moment have como to pass, and. undeniable'progress has marked the way. Social, political,' - arid commercial changes have como about; old landmarks have disappeared for ever,' and now .'oriesc have been , substituted. In the-samo manner many of tho older people havo passed; away,'-making ; room for 'tho youngor ones pushing on.' The dying year haV many arid'varied associations of - men and things " that lie, beneath, tho surface of the show',"..'-but., to'- tho. majority it has, it "is honestly been a bright and proBporouS'year,'aud, tho.hopo is expressed, that tho new one will be as good to our people individually,- our- city, country, and Empiro.
