SUPREME COURT. KAUORI COMPENSATION CASE. . CLAIMANT AWARDED £3618. ■ Judgment was given yesterday morning in tho case in which Thomas Campbell, farmor, of Karori, claimed £4500 from tho City Corporation as compensation for loss arising out of tho taking of thirty-eight. acres for tho purposo of extending tho catchment area in connection with tho Karori reservoir. Tho Court, which consisted, of His Honour Mr. ■ Justico Coopor (President) and Messrs. T. Konnedy Mac Donald (assessor for claimant) and C. J.. Crawford (assessor for respondents), sat at 10 o'clock. His Honour said tho Court had notMjecn abio to arrivo at a unaiiimous verdict. Its award was mado by himself (the President of tho Court) aiid Mr. Crawford (assessor for tho respondents). Mr. Mac Donald (assesor for tho claimant) did not seo his way to agreo to tho amount which had been assessed.' Tho Court awarded claimant £S6lB in full settlement of. all matters in respect of tho claim, and ordered respondents to pay to claimant £73 10s. costs, as well as all witnosses' expenses and necessary disbursements. His Honour fixed tho assessors' fees at £21 each, and ordered each party to pay its own assessor. At tho hearing of the case, Mr. Skerrett, K.IC. (with him Mr. Johnston) appeared for the claimants, and Mr. Gray (with him Mr. o'Shca) for the Corporation.
