AH branches of •_athletics,. ■ Held events, wood chopping and sawing, Scottish dancing, and piping competitions' have boon entered for by the Society's directors, •■ who have this year placed within the grasp of 'aspiring athletes and exponents-of -the-' Scottish portion of the programme no: loss a sum ithan J!2si, and nine gold medals of • the value of over .£2O. This splendid prizelist lias had the effect of filling the handicap events with performers of a. hight order, !and , the attendant public will, no doubt, appreciate the Society's efforts to provide a good day's outing, and an opportunity of witnessing " the. performances of some of the best athletes . and dancers in the Dominion. The growing • need of a more spacious and convenient ground on which: to hold its annual festival has im- . polled the Society, to avail itself .of the offer' of the Master-ton Show Grounds, right in the heart of the-town. Train arrangements hhyo ' been made, which .will allow of residents in any part ot' the Wellington and Hawkft's Bay - provinces attending tho sports and ieiiirmng - to their koines ou the sauio day. •! ■'.
