':• : : ..'; ."'. '.'.;.♦ r— , Auckland, Decembor 23. At St. Mary's Cathedra] yesterday, a pastoral letter from the Bishops of Now Zealand to the clergy and laity was read. In the course of the letter it was stated that each and .all must from time to time feel ca3t down am] overburthonod'ih view of tho almdst impossible hope, from oxtont of area or from increase of population, of overtaking tlib work which should bo done. The-'Bishop had been urged by the Genoral Synod to make siich provision as might bo found possiblo to secure the.visit to this country of a sufficient number of devout and able men from tho: Church at Home. It had been thought desirable that a preparatory mission should be hold in tho oarly part of the year 1909, and a nioro comprehensive ono at a later period of the samo year, involving tho advent of a considerable number of clergy to.our shores. Committees would bo formed in each , diocese to gather tho necessary funds and to niako other necessary arrangcliioiits.
