The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Opawa, at present at i'ioton, will commence Homeward loading, at that port shortly alter the New Year. THE SYDNEY BOAT. The Union Company's steamer Talune, from Sydney direct, arrived about 10 a.m. yesterday. For two days after leaving Sydney fresh weather was experienced, but for the remainder of the passage,-fiuo -weather prevailed. Her cargo consisted of about 2000 tons of coal,-50 tons of fruit, and a quantity of timber for the Telegraph Department. The Talune left at 9 o'clock last night, for Southern porta. Captain J. Workman,'Clark, and Co., of Belfast. The now. steamer will bo named the Tainui, a name which calls up old recollections.. The first Tainui was commanded for several years by Captain E. J. hvans, now Marino Superintendent for- the Company for the''North Island. iTlio-new vosssl will bo about 10,000 tons. ■ Slio will bo •li7i't. long and 01 ft. beam.
