This addition; to : the! electric lighting !.plant', has rendered necessary : tne erection of another building for its'abcoramodation/'aiid/.tendors hayo now been invited for the. contract. The plans which have now .been prepared also provide for the installs.-; .tjonVof;two more i boilers of similar dimensions/which will , be ordered as the further, increase, 6f : business demands. ' The new.' building,, which has : been designed with a view .to further additions' if required, will Jje situated' at the side, and,.rear of the present premises in Harris Street, fronting .MerceiyStreet.Theunterior disposition of the plant Syill.bo such, that additional.installations can be made, without any difficulty. '■ '.The hew building will have a frontago of 98-feet, bya. deptlvof 120 feet, and will be,s2,:feet in height.. The. construction material will ,bo, of brick, with steel roofing fitted' with the most*un-to-clate glazing.. In addition; to. the big boiler, an extra turbounit of..;.lsoo.kilowats;is also to bo installed. A special. feature of'the new boiler will be the chain grate automatic'stokers,. , by which a regular supply, in small quantities, of coal is given to the furnaces.; The coal is discharged below tho. flame surface, thus, obtaining complete combustion of gases.' Provision has also boon allowed for the future installation of a travelling, traversing, and lifting crane,of -10, feet span,'.similar to that which., is at present in uso at the power hoiiso; and- a.big coal bunker, with a storage capacity.'of. 1400 tonsj', ,■.
