Mr. Frank Allen, late general manager of the Commercial Union ■ Assurance Company, bado farowoll to tho staff yesterday morning. Mr. Hawk, accountant, on '-behalf of the staff, presented Mr. Allen with an illuminated address, on tho margin of which wore mounted photographs of members of the staif, and in a short valedictory speech bore testimony to tho, esteem in which their departing chief had been held. ■ Eulogistic reforoneps were also made by other members, gonoral regret being expressed at his retire-, iheht.'
