(FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) New Plymouth, Decembor 21. At to-day's mooting of tho New Plymouth Harbour Board a letter was received from Mr. I<\ Mason, of Peterborough, England, asking for particulars of tho black magnotio sand, its depth and extent, and the terms on which rights could be acquired. Ho also asked whether tho Board would make a grant towards tho testing process'for smelting tho irousands if it considered tho process practical. The Chairman said tho position was a very peculiar one, and ho did not know what thoy could do in the matter. Tho Board could not givo the inquirer information regarding tho quantities. Mr. King proposed that Mr. Mason should be informed that tho Board could not make a grant, and, that tho quantities woro unlimited. The motion was carriod.
