AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
• TO-DAY'S SPORTS. . Tho members of the .local Ccntro. of tho New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association have mado complete arrangements w;th the view of providing their patrons and friends with an interesting 'afternoon's sport at tho liasin Kcsorvo to-day. Largo ontries have been rccoivod, included amongst tile comiietitors 'being tho New Zealand Amatour Champions, Messrs. H. Henderson, E. Fisher, and L. M'Kay. Tho former arc engaged in the sprint events, whilst M'Kay will make mi-attempt on tho polo record,' and will have tho aid of a bamboo pole, specially imported from Japan. Messrs. M. Mulcahy (winner of tho Team's Road Race) and I". Wilton (Harrier Champion)' will compoto in tho long-distance - events against the best of the younger runners. Mr. llarry Kerr arrived from Taranald during tho week, and intonds competing from scratch in the Walking Handicap. ICerr's one milo walking record having been accoptod by tlio N.Z.A.A. Association, considerable interest is centred in his performance. Messrs. Hogbon, Leslie! and W. Talbot will act as judges of tho walking. Dr. Newman has accepted tho office of rcforco, and the other officials will be at their posts.' A baud has been engaged, and afternoon tea will bo obtainable on tho lawn, for n email chavEß. The first event will take plnco at 2 p.m. sharp. ~
