',No priest saith'y "Lovo not I" to my Elizabeth. Sho liveth silont in her shrine, , Her royal robo .becomes her well, And royally her dark eyes shino Tho regal soul within to tell. ; But good! What saint' of ancient loro Hath dono what sho does o'er and o'er?. She carries in her gracious hands Cheer to tho lonely and tho sad; . Sho breaks away thoso heavy bands. That bind tho wretched; sho is glad, As God is glad, to bend and show' Now liopo and help to tlieni below. . I know who hath anointed her , Abovo her, fellows, who hath sent This regent to administer His gifts and goodness, who hath lentf To earth's forlorn surceaso of faith This living ray, Elizaboth. I lay beside tho edgo of death, My soul and body racked with: pain, Crying for God to tako my breath , Into his wordloss will again; All other hopo was lost and vain, When suddenly tho Master miith, "I send to thee Elizabeth." Sho came, sho lifted up my chains, Sho smiled and lit my dark despair; With words as kind as summor rains Sho took 1110 in her queenly care, Sho filled my bitten lips with prayer. Wore my tongue dry with dusts of death I'd gasp, "God bless Elizabeth 1" -ROSE TERRY COOKE.
