Cluillungur. which arrived at Auckland to-day, conveyed the British Commissioner. front Fiji to the New Hebrides, where he wns welcomed-by. the French Commissioner. Tho proclamation of joint control by England and France wns read ashore, and the Hags of England and France unfurled and salutes fired by French and British warships. The British Commissioner said law. and .order would bo established, and any further attempts at tribal revolts would be put down with a firm hand. A ' British Resident was formally appointed, and Captain Narrower, of the New. Zealand Force, was left in the group to organise tho police forces-
