" C 678 THE COST OF'CARPETS. 1, :— Wool has gone down in price, but English manufacturers are still affected by the -• high prices that ruled last Eeason, aad the cost of carpets has been, advanced by sixpence a yard. Fortunately for our customers, instead of sending Home small orders from time to time, we had ordered a whole year's stock, which we Eeoured before the price was increased, and we can, therefore, sell , them at the old price. ' We have now a very fine selection of carpet ' ' squares in several varieties. ' • Axmin'stor carpet squares, in beautifully blended colours and - in self-colourod designs, ;we sell nt ,the following \prices '9ft; by 10ft. 6in., from ... £7 10 0 10ft. Gin. .by 12ft., from ... £10 0 0' - 10ft.'Gin. by 13ft. Oin., from £12 10 0 13ft. Gin. by 12ft., from ... '£12 16 6, 12ft. by, 15ft., ; from' £14 7 6 We have also very beautiful Axminster carpets, to be . made into squares to suit purchasers, and the price, of course, therefore, vary. We have gorgeous Mirzapore carpets at" • 12ft. by oft., from £B 10 "0
J_ Hft. by 10ft., from £9 15 0 For those who cannot afford the real Mirzapore .'square we. have an imitation made in Japan,'iin the same bright glowing, colours, and at a' very much lower price. For instance, a square 12ft. by 12ft. would cost from 675. 6d, 1 And Kidderminster squares for bedrooms at prices beginning at, Oft. by 9ft., 275, 6d. These are made in a variety of colours, cool-lookiug blues and greys, in reds and mingled colours. • We have verj- .handsome Axminster stair carpets at prices from 6s. to 12s. (d> per yard. LINOLEUMS. Our stock of; linoleums is as artistic and varied iis our carpet stock. The virtues of the iiilhid 'tile pattern are well known. These do not show dust marks, and they wear "evenly,, till the last, because each colour is stamped right through to the back. Tlicy are more expensive than th» painted liiioleuriis, but are much mora artistic, and'in their durability well worth, the extra money. Other linoleums, in which the coloiir is stamped right through are the Oriental ones, and the_ parquetry. The Oriental, are made in-the rich colours,; and the designs Turkey carpets, and would do admirably for smoking-rooms or diningrooms. These we can supply at ss. 6d. and 6s. 6d. a square yard. There are also linoleums in very handsome Art designs at 4s. 3d., ss. 6d., and Bs. Ed. per square t yard. ' Then we have inlaid linoleums in a sort of softened effect, not clearly cut like the familiar, tile designs. . . And a new line is the plain matting effect' in a cheaper , linoleum, which •wo stock'in rod, cream, and green. The latest idea in linoleums is the par- ' quctry flooring. These are in imitation ' of oak parquotry flooring, really an admirable imitation. ; They are specially adapted for halls and dining-rooms, but in a drawingroom, witlr an Oriental carpet square in tho centre, thoy would look very effective, and would set off tho rich colours of 'the. carpet. . .' Yet another linoleum-like floor covering is tho cork carpbt, which is most suitable for bedrooms, as it is not cold to tho feet ! liko ordinary' linoleum, and, as a matter of fact, it is made of some preparation of cork. The plain cork carpet, in shades of green and Ired, and dark blue, is very suitablo for offices, especially if there were a carpet, square.in the centre. M'e havo this plain at 3s. 3d., 4s. 3d., and ss. 3d. per yard, and in art designs at 4s, per yard. CURTAIimS. ' If you want curtains, you probably want casement, curtains, ns those aro more used now than anything else, quaint and pretty little ourtains hanging from top to bottom of tho window pane. Wo havo a Tcry good range of casement cloths. We havo plain silky cloth, a doublo width material of 52in. width, at ss. 3d. a yard. Stencilled cream cloth, of the same width, from 2s. 9d. to ss. 9d. a yard. Holland casement, in grass green, art blue, and self colour, at 4s. a yard. Then wo hav« Madras curtains, plain, tasselled, and frilled, from Is. 6d. to 4t. 6d. por yard. THE SCOULLAR COMPANY LTD., Warehouse: 197, 199 Lambton Qnay. Steam and Bedding.Factory: Tliorndon Qaaj
