The newly-formed Ileretaunga Boating Club, of Petone, proposes to hold a regatta on Boxing •Day, to justify the existence of a sailing club at the northern end of the harbour. Thoro will bo two open events for third-class yachts (first prize, jEI Is., and two-lhinls entranco money; second, 155., and one-third entranco money), and an open race for 11-footers (prizes, £1 Is. and 10s. Gd.), besides other interesting , oveuts. . . As the club is in its infancy, and cannot benelit monetarily from the regatta, it cannot see'its way to offer larger prize-monoy; lint the hope is expressed that outsiders will bo induced lo enter for the lovo of the snort, nnd to give yachting a fdlip at Petone. The cliib is handicapped at present financially through the building of a shed on the beach, but the members look forward to making the. regatta an annual fixture id the future.
