He will probably'bo back on Saturday. !Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., accompanied by Mrs. M'Arthur, loft for the North yesterday, and will spend Christmas at Rotorua. Miss M. D. Cresswell, sister of Mrs. H. C. Waterfield, arrived from Sydney by the Warrimoo yesterday, and is to stay in Wellington for a timo. Mr.-E. T. Morshead, of New Plymouth, end formerly connected with the Money Orders, branch of the General Post Office, is 'a visitor to Wellington. ' Mr. ,A. C. Cooper, associate to His Honour Mri' Justice Cooper, has been notified that, he has passed the first part of the Bolioitors , Law Examination. ' ;, Mrs. Geo. Earp-Thomas, of Toronto, who has relatives'in Wellington, arrived here by the lonic a few days ago. She has left on » visit j*> Rotorua via. Napier and Taupo. ■ i'News has been received in Wellington of the death in England of Mrs. Edward Lauri (Miss'Oissie Neil), wife of the well-known comedian of that name. Mrs. Lauri visited the' , colonies some years ago with Mr. Musgrovo's."ThirtyThioves" Company. "; Mr* G. AUport, Secretary of the Marine Department, leaves by the express train this for Napier, to join the Hinemoa.', Mr. Allport will accompany the vessel on ■ a tour of inspection, and expects to be away from Wellington about five weeks. Didsbury, who has been chief officer in tho local branch of the Standard Insurance, Company, is to succeed Mr., William Evans as manager on the.latter's retiferneht at tho end of the year.
