tug den or kelly. • According to advice received from Sydney, the Den of Kelly lias been chartered to load at New York, for New Zealand direct, under the auspices of the A. and A. Line. She is expected to sail in January. THE STRATIIAYON. According lo the "Now Zealand Herald," the steamer Strnthavon has been chartered by the A. and A. Line to load at New York, for New Zealand direct. She is expected to sail early iu January. THE ALLEY LINE. Messrs. Johnston and Co., Ltd., have received advice from Sydney that the Den of Rut liven was to leave for Wellington yesterday. She is due here on Sunday, and will probably leave for Auckland the following day. PAPAROA AT HOBART. The New Zealaud Shipping Company's steamer J'aparoa, from London, via Capetown, arrived at Hobart early yesterday morning. She brings a large number of passengers for the Dominion, and is due at Wellington on Sunday. THE CORINTHIC LEAVES PLYMOUTH. The local agents of the Shaw, Savill, arid Albion Company have received cabled advice that the Corinthic left Plymouth on Sunday afternoon, for Wellington. Calls will' be macl'o at Capetown about January 5, and Ilobart, January St, she being due at Wellington about January 29. ARRIVAL OF THE DELPHIC. The Shaw, Savill, and .Albion Company's steamer Delphic, from Liverpool, via .Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Newcastle, arrived about noon yesterday. She replenished bunkers at the latter port, and sailed on Thursday, for Wellington. The vessel experienced fine weather in crossing tho Tasman Sea, but was forced to drop anchor in the Straits yesterday on account of the fog. After completing discharge of some 700 tons of cargo at 'Wellington, the Delphic proceeds to Port Chalmers, probably next Saturday. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE. In view of the danger arising from fire onshipboard, the Shaw, Savill Company hits issued (says the "Otago Daily Times") the following notice to all cargo workers employed on the Company's vessels: —"As' a preventive measure against fire, you are each and all hereby ordered not to enter or work cargo in any of the Company's steamers' holds without first .handing over to the liatchman all matches you may have, on or about your persons, on each occasion of going to work in any hold.
