MANNERS STREET, WELLINGTON. ' ■■ C67b , THE; -COST „ OF CARPELS. J <> ' . Wool has gone down in price, but English manufacturers are still affected by the ■high' prices that ruled last season, and • the cost of carpets has been advanced by sixpence a yard. Fortunately for our-cus-tomers, instead of sending Home small orders from time to time, we had ordered a whole year's stock, which \S-e secured before the price was increased, and wo can, therefore, sell them at .the old price. Wo have now a very fine selection of carpet squares in several varieties. Axminster carpet sjuares, in beautifully blended colours ana in self-coloured do-. signs, we sell at the . fallowing prices:— ■ 9ft. bv. 10ft. Gin., from' ... £7 10 0 10ft. Gin., by 12ft., from .... £10 0 0 10ft. Gin. by 13ft. Oin., from £12 10 0 13ft. Gin. by 12ft., from ... £12 16 6 12ft. .by. 15ft., from ... ... £14 7.6 We have also, very beautiful Axminster; carpets, to be made into squares to suit purchasers; and the price, of course, there- . fore, vary.. We have gorgeous Mirzapore carpets at 12ft. by 9ft., from £9 10 0„ 14ft. by 10ft., from ... .... £9 15.0* For those who cannot afford the real Mirzapore square we have an imitation mado - in Japan, in the same bright glowing colours, and at a very much lower price. For instance, a square 12ft. by 12ft. would •cost from. 67s'i . 6d.' And Kidderminster squares for bedrooma at prices beginning at, 9ft. by 9ft., 275. 6d. These are made in a variety of colours, cool-looking blues and greys,'in reds and mingled colours. ' Wp have very handsomo Asminster stair carpets at prices from 6s. to 12s. 6d, per yard. LINOLEUMS. Our stock of.linoleums is as artistic and varied as our carpet stock. The virtues of the, inlaid tile pattern are'well known. These do not show dust marks, and they wear evenly till the last, because each ■ colour is stamped right through to the back.. The.v are more expensive than the painted linoleums, but are much more' ; artistic, and in their durability well wortl the extra money. Other linoleums i which the colour is "stamped right tlirougl aro the Oriental ones, and the parquetry The Oriental!are made ill the rich colours, and the designs Turkey carpets, and would . do admirably for smoking-rooms or diningrooms. These wo can 1 supply at,ss. sd. and' 6s. Gd. n square yard.. There are. also linoleums in very handsomo Art designs, at 4s. 3d., ss. Gd., and.6s. Sd. per square yard. Then we bare.inlaid linoleums in'a sort of softened effect, not clearly cut' like the familiar. trie desjgns. And a new line is the plain-matting effect : in a cheaper linoleum, which we stock in ■ red, cream, and green. ' The latest ."idea in linoleums' is the quctry flooring. ■ These aro in imitanou--of oak parquetry flooring, really-an admirable imitation. The.v are specially-adapted for-halls and dining-rooms, but in a drawingroom, with, an Oriental carpet square in the centre, they would look very effective, and would set off the rich colours of tho carpet. ' Yet another linoleum-like floor covering lathe cork carpet, which is most suitable for bedrooms, as it is not cold to tho feet like ordinary linoleum, and, as a matter of fact, it. is, made of some preparation of cork. The plain cork carpet, in shades of green and red, and dark blue, is very suitable for offices, especially if there wero . a carpet square in the centre. Wo have this plain at 3s. 3d., 4s. 3d., and ss, 3d. per yard, and in art designs at 4s.* per yard. CURTAILS. 1 If you want curtains, you probably want casement curtains, as those aro more used ■ now than anything else, quaint and pretty little curtains hanging from top to bottom of the window pane. \Ve have a very pood range of casement cloths. We have'plain silky cloth, a double width material of 52in. width, at ss. 3d. a yard. Stencilled cream cloth, of tho same width, from 2s. 9d. to ss. 9d. a yard. , Holland casei ment, in grass green, art blue, and self colour, at 4s. a yard. Then we havo Madras curtains, plaiu, tassolled, and frilled, from Is. 6d. to 45.,6 d. per yard. THE SCOCLLAR COMPANY LTD., Warehouse: 191, IK Umbton Quay. Steam and Bedding Factory: Thorndon Ouav
