Method.—For those who like onions the following is very useful and wholesome. Pour some boiling water over the onio' .? after, peeling them, then put. the onions' into n saucepan with 2 or 3 -tablespoonfuls of dripping, and a tablespoonful of sugar with them. They are then put over a slow fire, and the;lid is put on tho saucepan. In about ten minutes, ' take the lid off, and baste the onions with the fat that is in the pan. They must be cooked very slowly and, turned aud basted occasionally, they will tako about half an hour to conk through.. To see if they are cooked, push a fork or skewer into the centre to notice if they are soft. The onions will look brown and black on the outside. As the black skin is so much liked by some people it should always be served round the onion, and not discarded as useless. FOR TO-MORROW.
