TO WORRY OUT THE FERN.

•Fern (writes our travelling correspondent from Kohi, Waitotara) is very much in evidence on some properties about here. , I was talking to a man on the subject, ■ who was for many years on an inland Patea station ; ho said it could bo easily got rid of by a prdpor system. He would put up temporary fences if the paddocks were too large. Then bring in a mob of big healthy sheep, keop them in a week, and then put them back again in a good grass paddock, bring in again another mob of similar conditioned sheep, and repeat the process. By following this plan he had seen some of tho worst-fern land brought into ae good grass as could be wished, the secret Doing ■ a big lot of shoop to worry out the fern. Being kept on for a week only, they could not take, any harm. Land on which cattle could not probably feed, such as steep and rough country, could bo handled with ease by putting sheep on. .
