BALLOTING FOR LAND.

Families :• The ilioard may, with tho approval of tho Minister,, on tho opdiiing of any land for'publio selection, sot apart.not'more'than one-third of Such land as',allotmcnts in respect of winch preference "at. any' ballot shall bo given to applicantswho aro landless within tho meaning; of Regulation-6, and who belong to-any of tho following classes:—(a) Married men with children; (b) widowors with children; (c) ; -WidowsWith-.children; (d) Married wor men with children and judicially separated-' .frpm.tlioir husbands.' All such applicants shall rant equally with each other. . " .Landless-Applicants Unsuccessful in Pre-. vious Ballots: Tho Board may also, with tho .approval' of tho Minister', oil, tho opening of any land for public selection, set apart c>;r'tain,,allotments in respect, of which prefer-, onoo at any ballot shall bo given to applicants who arc landless within tho meaning of 6,- and have within tho previous two-years competed'at least twico.unsuccessfully at'any. other laud-ballot under -any of. the above-mentioned Acts. Successful Applicants Debarred for Five ■Years:' Every person who hereafter is successful in any' land ballot under tho aforesaid ,Acts,'.and wbo.inakes any disposition of • bis allotment.or-.any part .thereof, whether by way. orsublcaso, shall ho disqualified for the period of five years after tho date of.;Sueh.disposition from,taking part.in .any other land-ballot under any of .tho afore-said-Acts,.; ■

" '■'.' .'.'; ~ • j if; the Commissioner thinks fit ho may draw "a second ball! from "tho ballot-box, aiid 'the 'applicant whoso rotation .iiumbbr appears thereon shall bo declared tho' successful-ap- : plica'nt in all-cases whero the applicant whoso -rotation"number "is" first' drawn is ineligible or disqualified from selecting or holding tho section' balloted for, and such disqualifiea-' -tion is announced by. the Commissioner or Land Board within a spaco of thirty days from tho date of ballot. ' Immediately upon tho successful applicant boing declared ho shall pay to tho Receiver of Land Rovonuo tho deposit, purchasemoney, rout, or othor moneys roquircd by law in respect of tho land applied for, should such moneys not h.'tvo already boon dopositcd. ■ ; Should such applicant or his roprcsuuta- ■ tivo not make tho said payments as required by law, thon a frosh ballot shall bb taken between tho othor applicants without dolay, unless a second numbbr has already been drawn, iu which ease tho-applicant whoso rotation number it is shall bn doclarod tho successful applicant and called upon to pay tho necessary doposit, etc. Or, slionld thore b'o'only one romaining applicant, ho shall bo doclarod. successful, subjoct to tho said payments'being mado as aforosaid.
