AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

Tho Wellington and Manawatu Railway Division of the St. John Ambulanco'Brigade held a competition on Wednesday night, under the supervision of Mr. Pollock, Superintendent. The Judges,were Dr.. A. W. Izard and Messrs. Holmes, Desant, ancl Dixon. Five teams of five men each competed. As a result, the teams captained by Messrs. Hollis and Hardin tied with 92} per cent, of marks. The Judges commented very favourably'on the! accuracy and neatness of tho work done.

The Rev. J. Flanagan, Primitive Methodist missinner, loft on Thursday for the Bluff, to commence his South Island work; lie will only bold one mission before Christmas, and will lake a'short holiday at Nelson, staying with Dr. Webb, the well-known organist,. who is his brother-in-law. A number "of Wellington '.ministorsrluTichcd with Mr.' Flanagan in the city beforo his departure. His mission in the Wellington dishct is considered to havo been eminently successful. The Bev. J. Daw-son-.states that Mr. Flanagan, proved not'quite the sort of man the Church'had expected to welcome, but he was much better than they expected—a very solid, earnest man, who sought no personal advantage from his work. Father and Mother Xmas are announced to arrive at tho Economic to-day by the 3.2o,train from the Lower Ilutt. Punch and Judy will land in'Seatoun by 1.30 boat, will pass through Miramar, Kilbirnie, and Island Bay, calling at the Ilospital to sec their little sick friends, and will arrive at the Economic at 3 o'clock sharp. The children are advised to watch for Father and Mother Xmas and Punch and Judy at George and Kcrsley's, Limited, to-day.
