AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

Tho Wellington and Manawatu Railway Division of the St. John Ambulanco'Brigade held a competition on Wednesday night, under the supervision of Mr. Pollock, Superintendent. The Judges,were Dr.. A. W. Izard and Messrs. Holmes, Desant, ancl Dixon. Five teams of five men each competed. As a result, the teams captained by Messrs. Hollis and Hardin tied with 92} per cent, of marks. The Judges commented very favourably'on the! accuracy and neatness of tho work done.

The Rev. J. Flanagan, Primitive Methodist missinner, loft on Thursday for the Bluff, to commence his South Island work; lie will only bold one mission before Christmas, and will lake a'short holiday at Nelson, staying with Dr. Webb, the well-known organist,. who is his brother-in-law.
