Born in France in 15G7, Chnmplain explored Canada and Newfoundland (1003-07), founded Quebec in ICOS, and'discovered Lake Champlain in IGO9. This intrepid navigator and explorer died at Quebec in 1G35.-: ...
The battle of the Heights for Plains) of Abraham, otherwise known as the Battlo of Quebec, was fought. on September 13, 1759; when tho British, under Wolfe (famous for his lofty character no less than his military skill) defeated the French under Montcalm. Tho battle resulted in the fall of Quebec, and ultimately in tho passing to Britain of the French oversea empire in Canada, which Champlain had pioneered. Wolfe was killed in the hour of victory.
