SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.
The Women's Christian Temperanco Union, held its annual meeting yesterday afternoon. Tho annual reports of tho Secretary and the Superintendent of the Hospital Singing Band, which reviewed the'work of tho pa6t year, said that much good had been accomplished. The' Union passed a hearty vote of thanks to' tho' Rov. Shirer for services in connection with the building fund of the Girls' Association rooms. Otiicers for next year were elected as follows;— President, Mrs. Boxall; secretary, Mrs. Taylor; treasurer, Miss H. Wilkinson; superintendent- of tho white' ril-bori' paper, Mrs. Amos; vice-presidents, Mesdairies ' Atkinson, Chappie, Ostlor, and: Wright. Mr. Johann George Hamel was married in the Webb Street Primitive Methodist Church" on by the Rev. J. Dawson, to Miss Caroline Kauffmann. | Miss Handysidc was a passengor from Lyttelton by the Maori last night. v
