ENTERTAINMENTS.

"BLUEBELL IN FAIRYLAND." There was again a crowded auditorium last night on (he occasion of tho second performance of "Bluebell in Fairyland," by tho Tom Pollard Juvenile Opera Company, at the Opera House. The pretty "dream play" does not hold attention by any complexity of plot, , any tragical thrills, .or any strong characterisation. It is the beauty, tho variety, tho grace, tho verve, with the comic and grotesquo relief of the thing, that keep the people thero in utter forgetfulness that there is such a circumstance as time. Mr. Pollard has collected a number of remarkably clever young people, and they havo been admirably trained. Several of them show unmistakable dramatic talent, and their songs and dances are very pleasing. . The spectacular effects havo been carefully thought out, so that the dresses, the grouping, tho scenery, and the lighting combine in constantly varied forms to create a series of kaleidoscopic pictures, which move to tho music of an- orchestra that knows its business. And there is always just enough of humour to season the c'.islf of sweet things. Tho topical allusions to matters no further away than the licensing of bookmakers''or the Hutt Railway pop out with delightful suddenness in the midst of Fairyland. Tho performance will be repeated to-night. THEATRE ROYAL. Another large audience found ample amusement in. tho bill provided bv Fuller's Vaudeville Company Inst night. Behind the bland comicalities of Pastor and Merle were acrobatic feats that made every athlete in the audience wonder. An accomplished xylophone player was Claude Over; and iu fact all the turns were of exceptional merit. To-night the same strong programme will be repeated. WELLINGTON CHORAL SOCIETY. The third and last performance *to be given by the • Wellington Choral Society during the 1907 season occurs to-night at the Town Hall. Handel's " Messiah" hns been selected, and a successful performance is expected, for the. famous oratorio has been carefully rehearsed under the conductorship of Mr. J. Maughan Barnett. Tho principals are Mrs. R. Hudson, Miss Mina Caldow, Mr. E. J. Hill and Mr. J. Prouse. Tickets havo sold well, but seats may still be reserved at tho Dresden. "WONDERLAND." , "Wonderland" was tho objective of a numTier of people last evening, and the well-known attractions'of that entertaining spot kept all interested. Chuting the. chuto and the toboggan slides, the helter-skelter, and the mystic castles were as fascinating as ever. •
