A mooting' of the' Conciliation Board was hold to-day to hear tho dispute between the Otago and' .Southland' Industrial Union of Workers and tho Otago and Southland sheep ownors. About 400 employors wero cited. Air W. Scott, representing the employers, ■said the demands of the Union wero exorbitant, and as it was regarded us certain that .the case would have to go before the Arbitration Court, , tho employers did not proposo to take part in the present proceed--ings. ■ The Chairman (Mr. Bathgatc) suggested a short adjournment , to aeo if an arrangement could be arnvod at, but tho Union preferred to go':on. :• ' ... Tho principal demands of the mon aro as follow:—Loading shepherds of long-wool flocks shall .bo paid-not loss than £<Jtl per annum; ordinary shepherds of long-wool Hocks not less than £85;, leading shepherds in back- country looking after merino ftocks, not less..than £90;.. ordinary shepherds in back country, or sliephording merino flocks not less than £80 per annum. When mus.terers aro engaged to nnis,ter shoep for shearing, culling, dipping, or any other pitrposo, they shall ,be paid not less than 10s. per ■day, and'no'time'shall be taken off for wot weather-'or any lost time ovor which tho men havo no control. .
