TRAMCAR ON FIRE.
; 'EXCITING INCIDENT AT AUCKLAND. Auckland, December 9. As an electric tram was ascending Wellesley Street on Saturday evening, flames suddenly burst out inside.the car. The motorman had bno nrm badly scorched, and was : thrown" off tho car. koine half-dozen passengers jumped out. Tho tram was runhiii" , back on tho' down' grado at a good speeS when an ex-motorman jumped aboard, pulled tho trolley-pole, off the wire, and stopped tho car. , Tlio shock to the passengers was considorablo, as the seats suddenly became alive, and the car was lit up with flashing blue-lights omitted from nil the ironwork. The controller blow out, and tho fuel-box caught firo. .
