WELLINGTON HOSPITAL.
« . ELECTION OF TEUSTEES. The statutory' election of trustees for the Administrative Board of tho Wellington Hospital was held yesterday morning, ten local hoilies being represented by delegates. The Bo.ird has a membership of nine, of which the Wellington City Council has the statutory privilege, based on its financial ratio, of electing one by direct vote. Two .are elected by the contributors, and tho remaining six by dehgates from local bodies. Tho City Councils representative is Mr. W. H. Hales, and theconl tnbiitors representatives are the Hon. C. M Luke and Mr. J. Dnnks, who remain in office Nino nominations were received for the six remaining scats-Messrs. ]?. C. Kirk GeoiVo London, A. C. Pearcc, 1\ G. Bolton T A relerkin, J. W. M'Eivcn, G. Nash, F T Moore, and J. Trevor. Mr. A. C, Crawford declined nomination. In the election which followed, Mr. E. C. Kirk was returned by a unanimous vote, while Mr. G. London received eight votes. Five of the remaining candidates tied for the third place, each receiving six votes. Another poll was taken tho result being the return of Mr. F. G. Bol- ' toll, niul a tie amongst the oilier four. The final poll resulted in the election of Messrs J. W. M'Ewcn, G. Nash, and A. C. Tcarce! The full Board now consists of:—The Ifon C M. Luke, Messrs. It. C. Kirk, G. London, "w! 11. Hales, ,1. Banks, G. Nash, F. G. Bolton A. C. Pearcc, and J. W. M*Kwen. Mr. R. C. Kirk briefly returned thanks for his re-eleclion. On behalf of tho old members who had been returned, lie extended a welcome lo his new associates, and assured them of his desire to assist them in every way to gain an insight to the working of the Hospital. He felt sure, that when they had been some time in odiee, they would realise that tho charges of unnecessary expense in tho working of the, institution, which had been raised against the old Board, would be found lo have been unwarranted, and that those criticisms- had not been deserved. M" l\ G. Helton, referring In ibe question of expensive administration, said that if ho found subsequently that his strictures had been 100 severe, he would withdraw tltem as ceuiageously as he had made them. Messrs. Pearcc and London also relumed thanks for their election, and Messrs. Moore and Pclorkin, for the rejected candidates, added a word or two. Mr. ,1. A. Polcrkin felt very grateful for his defeat; he did not want the position, and had only been induced lo stand by the persistent entreaties of his O.iiiicil. Messrs. Moore and Trevor received a vote of thanks for their past services.
